Beyond the Classroom
Students are provided opportunities to discover their strengths and passions.
As we believe in the education of the whole child, St Roch’s offers learning experiences in performing arts, sport, Robotics, debating, social justice, community engagement.

In Years 1 and 2, our Junior School students are encouraged to spread their wings, discover new interests, and build confidence through a rich array of hands-on, beyond-the-classroom experiences. We offer a vibrant selection of lunchtime and after-school clubs tailored specifically to ignite early passions, including Dance, Chess, Library, Run, Art, and STEM Clubs, which allow our young learners to create, move, and solve problems with friends across different year levels.
Our curriculum is further enriched by vital life skills, real-world discovery, and academic opportunities. Students participate in our comprehensive Swimming Program to build water confidence, alongside essential community safety workshops like the Fire Education program. To bring their classroom learning to life, our Year 1 and 2 students enjoy a dynamic calendar of excursions and incursions, while those seeking an extra academic challenge can showcase their skills through the globally recognized ICAS Assessments. It is a holistic approach that ensures our junior students are always engaged, inspired, and having fun as they learn.

Wellbeing
To prepare our students for a complex world, we place equal importance on emotional intelligence and academic rigour. Through our Social and Emotional Learning program, we guide students to develop five essential competencies that serve as a toolkit for life.
We teach students to understand their own emotions (self-awareness) and regulate their actions (self-management), while fostering empathy for others (social awareness). By building strong relationship skills and learning to make responsible decisions, our students graduate as confident, well-rounded individuals ready to contribute to society."
By explicitly teaching these skills, we empower our students to navigate challenges, build healthy relationships, and make ethical choices. We believe that mastering these competencies is essential for our students to thrive not just as learners, but as resilient, compassionate members of the community.
