Where learning begins
With small class sizes, we personalise learning and are responsive to each child’s needs. Our structured approach to literacy includes Explicit Phonics and Multisensory Structured Language (MSL), while Mathematics is taught using evidence-based resources to build strong numeracy foundations. Students enjoy a vibrant mix of specialist programs including Performing Arts, Physical Education, Italian, Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) and Visual Art.
A wide range of extracurricular opportunities also support engagement, confidence and connection beyond the classroom. As a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school, our culture is built on the values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience, empowering students to make positive choices and build strong relationships. We will support your child’s academic, social and creative needs.
Our highly respected teaching staff are a team of experienced educators who are trusted and well regarded within the local community. Our staff bring a depth of knowledge, professionalism and genuine care that supports academic growth and student wellbeing. We offer a balanced approach to learning to ensure the best start for your child’s future. St Roch’s is committed to developing students who think critically and creatively and are empowered to be collaborative problem solvers. From Prep to Year 6, we are committed to developing an environment where every child can succeed through different subjects, activities and strong leadership opportunities

Prep
Starting Prep is a huge milestone, not just for your child, but for your entire family. This first year is an important launchpad for lifelong success.
Our literacy program uses a systematic, multisensory phonics approach to build foundational skills in reading and writing, while Mathematics is brought to life through hands-on, explicit teaching that connects numbers to the real world. We move from guided practice to independent discovery, always encouraging students to explore the "why" and "how" behind everything they see. Beyond academics, Prep is where children learn to navigate their world; we teach clear routines and expectations to foster positive behaviors for learning, ensuring every student is engaged, self-managed, and truly ready to succeed.
Junior School
Building directly on their Prep foundation, students' literacy and numeracy skills continue to develop through explicit instruction. Our Talk for Writing program builds students’ oral language skills and vocabulary and provides a clear structure for writing that directly impacts on Reading. Students continue to use hands-on materials to consolidate knowledge in Mathematics. They move into independent applications, where students use strategic thinking to tackle real-world challenges.

Senior School
The work we do in the Senior Hub is not just about preparing for the next year, it's about building a foundation for a lifetime of curiosity, confidence and compassion. Our Senior Hub uses a capstone approach to challenge students academically through rich, hands-on projects. Experiences such as the Economics, History Expo, Building Town Models, Debating Tournaments and the explicit teaching of Financial Literacy allow students to showcase their learning, creativity and problem solving. Our Year 5 and Year 6 programs are designed to prepare students for the transition to secondary school by gradually introducing them to new responsibilities and skills whilst continually mastering their leadership potential.
Middle School
Having mastered the routines and learning established in the Junior years, students in the middle years are reading to learn as our systematic, multisensory phonics approach evolves into fluent decoding and expressive writing. In Mathematics, the hands-on, explicit instruction matures into strategic problem-solving, where students use their solid number sense to tackle real-world challenges with confidence. Students in the middle years are encouraged to take greater ownership of their learning.
