The work we do in the Senior Hub is not just about preparing for the next year, it's about building a foundation for a lifetime of curiosity, confidence and compassion. Our Senior Hub uses a capstone approach to challenge students academically through rich, hands-on projects. Experiences such as the Economics, History Expo, Building Town Models, Debating Tournaments and the explicit teaching of Financial Literacy allow students to showcase their learning, creativity and problem solving. Our Year 5 and Year 6 programs are designed to prepare students for the transition to secondary school by gradually introducing them to new responsibilities and skills whilst continually mastering their leadership potential.
Senior School
At St Roch’s, the journey toward a confident transition to secondary school begins the very moment a student enters Prep. Through our structured, developmental leadership program spanning Prep to Year 6, we actively cultivate student voice and agency, empowering our children to make a tangible difference in their school today and in the wider world tomorrow. By the time our students reach the senior years, they are uniquely equipped for the next step in their educational journey. They emerge not only academically prepared to meet new challenges, but also deeply grounded from a wellbeing perspective—standing as resilient, confident problem-solvers who possess the emotional tools and self-belief to truly thrive in secondary school and beyond.

Introducing our Senior Hub
Our Senior Hub uses a capstone approach to challenge students academically through rich, hands-on projects. Experiences such as the Economics Fair, History Expo, Building Town Models, and Debating Tournaments, allow students to showcase their learning, creativity and problem-solving skills.
Students also engage in community volunteering, gain early exposure to high school electives such as sewing and food technology, take part in our leadership program and enjoy weekly sport sessions. These opportunities help them develop responsibility, teamwork, and confidence as they prepare for their next stage of learning.

Every Year 6 is paired with a prep buddy, to help build relationships and their leadership capabilities. Regular 'buddy time' is allocated each week to foster friendships, connection and a sense of belonging.

As students enter their final years at St. Roch’s, our Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL) approach focuses on self-regulation and personal responsibility. We know that readiness for secondary school requires more than just academic skills; it requires emotional intelligence.
