OUR OUTDOOR CLASSROOM IS NOW OPEN!!
It was an absolute privilege to be a part of the commemorations and celebrations last Friday afternoon at the Queen's Jubilee Planting of the Trees and blessing of the Outdoor Classroom. We were pleased to welcome Dr Michelle Ananda-Rajah, the Federal Member for Higgins, The Hon. Michael O'Brien Shadow Attorney General, Father Gallacher, members of our School Advisory Council, invited guests from Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools, neighbours, our parents and extended family and friends, staff and students. This event was the culmination of the work of Louisa McCann and Julie Meseha who were successful in their application for a $14,613.00 grant towards the Plant a Tree for the Queen’s Jubilee Program. Seven Kanooka Gum Trees were planted in August. One tree for each decade of service to honour the legacy of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the second representing her 70 years of service to Australia and the Commonwealth. Their combined talents and vision on writing and applying for grants and designing an Outdoor Learning Space have come to fruition. We have learnt as a result of the last two years that we must be responsive to change and provide alternative learning environments that are safe, educational and allow our students to flourish. This beautiful outdoor classroom has provided us with a space that will grow with our students.
We experienced many other exciting things this fortnight. A lovely assembly from 1/2JH, a working bee, a visit form Marty McGauran and so much more.
