From our Principal

Dear Families

Preps in Pyjamas Family Faith Night

What a delightful evening with our Prep students and families last night. This evening of prayer enabled us to come together in our pyjamas to take time to reflect and pray. Sincere thanks to Louise Bolton for organising this evening, to Sue Shanahan for preparing the children and Nadine Bolton for her support.

Confirmation

We are grateful to Bishop Les Tomlinson, Father Gallacher, Louise Bolton, Jess Mount, Alex Keisler, Cassie Jensen, Matt Crowe and Nadine Bolton for their contributions and support to ensure the newly confirmed students were prepared and ready for the Sacrament of Confirmation on 1 June. Thank you to their families for joining us this evening. It was a reverent and special sacrament and we hope these students understand the importance of leading with faith.

The Big Build

We are pleased to announce that we have had final confirmation to tender our project! Please see attached our

Educational Brief that supported our application. We look forward to sharing the design as we work towards beginning

this exciting project in late August completed with luck in January!!

Working Bee

Our Prep, Year 5 & 6 Working Bee is coming up soon on Sunday 18 June 2023 from 11am - 1pm. We look forward to seeing as many families there as possible.

After School Supervision

We love that our students and parents continue to gather after school and appreciate that this is a social time for everyone. We ask that you continue to supervise your children on the playground and surrounding areas to ensure they are safe. Staff Supervision after school ceases at 3.45pm.

School Highlights Assembly

On Wednesday 14 June, we invite all parents to come along to our Highlights Assembly in the Hall at 2.40pm. Our Year 6 Leaders and SRC Representatives will lead this assembly and we look forward to thanking our Semester 1 SRC Class Representatives for their work this Semester. Next term classes will elect two students in each class from Prep to Year 5 to represent them for Semester 2 as SRC Representatives.

Semester Two Student Free Days

Each year Catholic schools utilise student-free days (when student instruction does not occur) for professional development, school planning and administration, curriculum development and student assessment and reporting.

Please note the following Semester Two student-free dates for your diary.

• Thursday, 10 August 2023 (School Improvement)

• Monday, 6 November 2023 (Assessment & Reporting)

• Monday, 4 December 2023 (Planning Day)

The School Calendar can be located at google.com/strochscommunity The 2023 School Calendar is also available on the School Website. It can be found on the front page under the heading ‘WHAT’S ON’. We will endeavour, where possible, to remain true to the dates on the Calendar. However we recommend that parents always read the Newsletter to see updates on all school events.

Preparing to receive Reports via nForma Parent Portal

This year the nForma package has had an upgrade and we are currently running on a new version of nForma. A few changes have been made which will impact the way you can view your child’s Semester 1 Report.

For our new families, the nForma Parent Portal is a platform for parents to access student reports digitally. You will be able to view and download your child’s reports each semester once they have been published. Please take note that the link has changed, this has been updated on our School Website and is also included in this email for your convenience.

You can access the nForma Parent Portal via the following link: https://parent.nforma.com.au/portal/#/login?schooldomain=srgleniris

We have had to reset access for all families due to the new system and encourage you to set up your accounts in the next couple of weeks to prepare for the Semester 1 reports. You will still be able to access past student reports once you re-create your access.

You will have received an email from nForma requesting you to create a new account for the portal. This email contains a temporary password and you will be prompted to change your password once you have logged in. Please check your spam/junk emails for this email if it does not appear in your inbox, this is a common occurrence for the email to be redirected to spam/junk.

If you experience any difficulties creating your account please contact Cassie Jensen on

cjensen@srgleniris.catholic.edu.au and copy myself in so we are able to assist you to access the portal.

Year 4M Semester Reports will be uploaded on nForma on Tuesday, 13 June for Parents to access. All other Semester One Reports will be uploaded on Friday, 16 June 2023.

King’s Birthday Public Holiday

Monday, 12 June 2023

As we approach the first King’s Birthday public holiday we remind families that the school will be closed on Monday 12th June. We wish you all a wonderful long weekend.

Warmest regards
